Licensed Electrical Contractor With Over 20 Years of Experience

Mingus Electric is a locally owned electrical contractor serving Mt. Washington, KY and surrounding areas. With more than 20 years of electrical experience, we handle residential and commercial projects throughout the region. Our licensing and BBB accreditation reflect our commitment to professional standards and ethical business practices.

You work directly with electricians who understand code requirements and treat your property with respect. We explain what we're doing and why, answer your questions throughout the project, and leave your space clean when we're finished. This approach applies whether we're troubleshooting a circuit issue, upgrading your electrical panel, or installing commercial lighting.

Our two decades of experience means we've encountered most electrical scenarios—older wiring that needs updating, expanding service capacity for growing businesses, retrofitting lighting for energy efficiency, and planning electrical systems for new construction. We bring that problem-solving ability to every job, regardless of size.

As authorized installers for both Generac and Kohler generators, we've earned manufacturer recognition for our technical capability and installation standards. This credential demonstrates our commitment to staying current with electrical systems and backup power technology.

Code-Conscious Workmanship in Every Installation

Electrical work isn't just about getting power from point A to point B—it's about doing it safely, according to code, and in a way that supports your building's long-term functionality. We follow National Electrical Code standards and Kentucky state requirements on every installation, whether we're wiring a single outlet or a complete commercial tenant buildout.

Kentucky's seasonal weather patterns—from summer heat that stresses cooling systems to winter storms that can knock out power—make reliable electrical systems and backup power solutions particularly valuable. We help customers throughout Mt. Washington evaluate their electrical capacity, identify potential issues before they become problems, and plan for power continuity when weather events occur.

Our residential and commercial capabilities give us flexibility to serve different types of customers with the same attention to detail. Homeowners appreciate our clear explanations and respect for their living spaces. Business owners value our understanding of operational needs, minimal disruption during installations, and coordination with other trades when projects require it.

Being locally owned means we're invested in the Mt. Washington community and the surrounding areas we serve. Our reputation depends on the quality of work we deliver and how we treat customers throughout the process—from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.

What You Can Expect When Working With Us

Clear communication starts with your initial inquiry. We discuss what you're trying to accomplish, assess what the electrical work will involve, and provide straightforward information about costs and timelines. You won't encounter surprise charges or vague explanations—we tell you what needs to be done and why, using terms that make sense rather than unnecessary technical jargon.

During the work itself, we protect your floors, move equipment carefully, and clean up debris as we go. We understand that electrical projects can be disruptive, especially in occupied homes and operating businesses, so we minimize the impact wherever possible. When we finish, we walk you through what we've done, verify everything works as intended, and answer any questions about operating or maintaining your electrical system.
